Bio

J. W. James passed away at his home in Anahuac on March 23, 2016. He was born and raised on a farm near Rosepine, LA on October 23, 1925. After finishing high school, he joined the US Navy and served as a Petty Officer 20 in the Pacific. He moved to Anahuac after war, and worked 36 years for Chambers County Road and Bridge as a Forman. That’s where he me Lois Rogers Morris, and they were married in 1955. They both retired some 30 years later, and he had the time for his big vegetable gardens and woodworking projects. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois and his step-daughter Joan. He is survived by his sisters Nelda Sloan and Lonnie Creed; and by his step-son James Morris and his grandchildren Jay Wesley, Lisa Ann, Blake James, and John Robert Morris. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins in Texas and Louisiana. J. W. loved Anahuac and everyone he met and worked with. He was known by his friendliness and his great sense of humor. He will be missed deeply by his family and all of his friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 28 at the First Baptist Church in Anahuac at 2pm. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Anahuac Cemetery
