Verleen was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Adolph and Minnie Kosch; and grandson, Matthew Kinsman. She is survived by her sons, Tom (Jihl), Jim (Kathy), Dan, Tim and Kent (Rhonda); and daughters, Mary Ann (Clarke Rigsby) and Jeanette (David Rosenfield). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Natalie (Erik), Jason (Megan), Domenic (Kimberleigh), Brian (Lin), Jessica, James, Michael (Stefanie), Courtney (Christian), Danielle, Scott (Karissa), Matthew (Sara), Corey, Mackenzie (Tanner) and Roberta; and 20 great-grandchildren. Verleen was born March 11, 1922, in Bellwood. She attended Mount St. Scholastica and the University of Nebraska, majoring in vocal music and art. Verleen met David at the University School of Music and they were married in 1946. They lived in Ogallala and moved the family to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1962. Verleen and David were married 68 years. She was the most caring of mothers, and affectionately known by her children as “Bobbie.” Verleen had many talents including a beautiful singing voice, a love of dancing, and an eye for sketching and design. She served God and family through a deeply prayerful Catholic faith, and lovingly took care of her parents and husband in the years before they died. Her greatest calling in life was to love and take care of her family, and she fulfilled it with grace. Through her children and grandchildren, a legacy of loving kindness lives on and she will forever be in our hearts. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 28, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. Seventh St., in Phoenix, Arizona.
