Bio

Genevieve Farrington, 91, of Ottumwa, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006, at Ottumwa Manor. She was born February 15, 1915 in Kellerton, IA to Bert E. and Alma Sullivan Curry. In 1930 she married Herbert Jackson at Bethany, MO. He died February 3, 1942. She married J.W. Farrington in 1943. He died January 14, 1963. She moved to Ottumwa in 1943. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of WOW and VFW. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed selling Avon, making pies and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include a son, James H. Farrington of Agency; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. She was preceded by her parents; two brothers; a sister; and a daughter, Cheryle Jackson Collins. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Kendall officiating. Family will be present from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton, IA at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Ottumwa Manor Activity Fund or Heartland Humane Society.
