Bio

Richard L. “Dick” Grudzinski, 76, of Grand Island died Friday, March 11, 2016. Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. To honor Dick’s wishes, cremation will take place following the visitation. A private burial of ashes will be Wednesday morning in Grand Island City Cemetery. Richard was born Dec. 19, 1939, in Loup City, to Louie and Victoria (Krolikowski) Grudzinski. He attended schools in Loup City and Cairo, graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1958. Richard was united in marriage to Shirley Kensinger on Aug. 21, 1958, in Aurora. While still in high school, he was working at Kensinger Service and upon graduation began working at Fairacres Dairy. He also worked in construction. When his father-in-law, Richard Kensinger died in 1985, Dick took over the family business, Kensinger Service and Supply, which he continued to operate until his death. Dick was a member of First Christian Church in Grand Island, Platt-Duetsche and Saddle Club. In his younger days Richard played softball, bowled, hunted and farmed. In his free time he also enjoyed camping, fishing, and showing and competing with his antique tractors. Richard‘s family and friends were an important part of his life and he dearly loved spending time with his grandkids and attending their activities. His family will remember his willingness to do anything to help someone in need. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynnette and Larry Chitty, a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cheryl Grudzinski, all of Grand Island. Also left to cherish memories are three grandchildren, Lesha Chitty (Brian Dickason), Landon (Amanda) Chitty, all of Kansas City, Kan. and Joseph (Lindsay) Grudzinski of Grand Island; two step-grandchildren, Adam (Laura) Hoffman of Grand Island and Eric (Tonja) Hoffman of Lincoln; three great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Catherine) Grudzinski of Wisconsin and Leroy Grudzinski of Texas; sisters, Barbara (Larry) Adams of Grand Island; brother-in-law, Elvin Will of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Delores Grudzinski of Wisconsin and Sharon Haldeman of Grand Island and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; brother, Edwin Grudzinski; sister, Louise Will; sisters-in-law, Sandi Grudzinski and Dianne Grudzinski; brother-in-law, Bill Haldeman and nephew, Eugene Grudzinski.
