Obituary Date 26 Jan 1933, Edison, Nebraska, The Edison Echo Lewis Clyde, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Baker, was born July 6, 1870, near Des Moines, Ia., and departed this life at his home south of Edison, Nebr., Jan 19, 1933, at the age of 62 years, 6 mos. and 13 days. In 1875 he came with his parents to a homestead in Smith county, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. On Oct. 2, 1898, he was united in marriage to Hattie D. Kindred of Smith Center, Kansas. To this union were born five children, three of whom preceded him in death in infancy. Those remaining to mourn his loss are his wife, his son, Lewis C. Of San Francisco, Calif., and his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Schmutz, Alta Loma, Calif., and one grandson. He also leaves three brothers, Wright of Reamsville, Kansas, Leroy of Edison, Nebraska, and Merlyn of Scotts Mills, Ore., one sister, Mrs. Mable Taylor of Scotts Mills, Ore. He also leaves a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Baker has farmed in Nebraska since his marriage with the exception of eight years which he spent on a farm near Porterville, Calif. He united with the United Brethren church near Riverton in 1910. He later placed his membership in the Methodist church in Porterville, Calif., and was a faithful worker for the cause of Christ until his death. He has been a loving husband and father and a loyal friend, always those who need help. He was a man of sterling character, very optimistic and no matter how dark the clouds he could always see the silver lining. Services were held in the Christian church Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. L.W. Scott of the Free Methodist church assisted by Rev. B.C. Bobbitt of the Christian church. Interment was in the Edison cemetery.
