Bio

Regina Agátha Jurečka Konvička, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 1, 2016, while a resident at Windsor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Austin, Texas. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, with funeral services following at 3 p.m., at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery. Regina was born in Granger, Texas, to the late John H. Jurečka and Annie Zett Jurečka, the youngest of eight children in a farming and mercantile family. In her early years, she attended parochial school. At Granger High School she was a football sweetheart, majorette, and a clarinetist. After graduating, Regina worked in Austin for the State of Texas and for a telephone company. She met Henry Konvička, an Army lieutenant from Moravia, Texas, and married him in 1948. They traveled the U.S. extensively as an Army family and had a tour of duty in the Canal Zone of Panama. Regina was a hostess of distinction, entertaining guests and relatives at her many homes as an Army wife. During her retirement, she continued to live (where her ex-husband and she settled down) in Austin. Regina was a devout Catholic and her faith carried her through life's many challenges. She was a member of KJT, Catholic Union of Texas. She was generous with her time, providing care to her extended family, friends, and the less fortunate. Regina was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; a son, Michael; and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Konvicka and wife, Cheryl, of Garland; three grandchildren; and three generations of nieces and nephews. J21
