Ethel Kennedy, 83, Foxholm, ND, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, in a Minot hospital. Ethel Louise Van Aelstyn was born on April 18, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Mary Van Aelstyn in Sidney, NE. She was raised there and educated at St. Patrick's School. Ethel was married to Patrick "Joe" Kennedy on February 15, 1947, in Sidney, NE. They made their home there until 1949, when Joe became employed by the Crescent Lake Refuge in Nebraska. They continued to live there until 1955, when Joe was transferred to the Upper Souris Fish and Wildlife Refuge in Foxholm. Joe passed away on September 18, 1992. She continued to reside in Foxholm until August of 2000, when she entered the Kenmare Baptist Nursing Home. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm, and its Christian Mothers group. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed raising lost wild animals such as rabbits, ducks and geese. She also enjoyed gardening, and making people laugh as she was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. She especially enjoyed spending time taking care of her children and grandchildren. Surviving family includes: son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Nancy Kennedy, Foxholm, ND; son-in-law, Steven Knudson, Hazen, ND; grandchildren, Jessie Kennedy and her son, Brasen; Codie Kennedy; Victoria (Michael) Chambers, and their daughters, Isabelle and Reagan, all of Fargo, ND; and Valerie and Timothy McConnell, and their sons, Tyler and Devon, all of Croughton, England; sister, Frances Twist, Ogden, UT; and numerous nieces, and nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Donna Knudson; brother, Edward; and sisters, Ann, Helen, Genevieva, Juanita, Dorothy, and Florence. -------------------------
