Graveside funeral services were held Thursday morning at County Line Cemetery in Moore County for Mattie Stone Hice of Lynchburg, who died Tuesday (Oct. 22, 1991) at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was 78. Jack Hice officiated. A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Maggie Waggoner Stone and the wife of the late Frank Hice, who died in March 1981. She was a retired homemaker and a member of the County Line Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Berry Ferrell of Mulberry; a son, Bill Hice of Shelbyville; four sisters, Hattie Lee Stone and Frankie Moore, both of Lynchburg, Neil Scott of Satelite Beach, Fla., and Bobbie Gibson of Shelbyville; a brother, Glen Stone of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
