Bio

Daughter of Johan and Helen Whiteberg Sister of: John Ingvold Whiteberg of Walker, MN and Fredrick C L Whiteberg of Ettrick, half sister of Lewis Thompson of Ettrick Daughter of Helene Larson and Johan Whiteberg, was born at Norway in 1884. Her father, a sea captain, was drowned before she was born. In the spring of 1889 they came to the United States with her mother and two brothers Frederick and John. Her mother remarried to Lars Thompson. They had a son Lewis on (26 jan 1892-1963) in Ettrick. Helen Thompson was still alive in 1920 census living with Lewis Thompson and wife Ragna M Lund Thompson. Married Ole Oanes Winona Daily News March 17, 1960 Mrs Gertrude Oanes, 75, of Galesville died Wednesday at a LaCrosse hospital. Survived by two daughters Gladys, Mrs Robert Lynn of Akron, IL and hazel, Mrs Wilfred Kohlmeyer and a son Orville of Galesville, a half brother Lewis Thompson of Ettrick. Preceded in death by her husband and a son Erling and two brothers John and Fred Whiteberg.
