Mother; Nancy Louise Gammon. OBITUARY; THE LAMPASAS LEADER FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1906 J.J. Dumas Dead. J.J. Dumas, of Izoro, died at his home Saturday after an illness of several months of consumption. Mr. Dumas was about forty years of age and was born and raised in Lampasas County, the Dumas family being one of the oldest in this part of the state, coming here in the early days. The deceased leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss. Mr. Dumas was an excellent citizen and his death means a great loss to the community. The Leader extends sympathy to the bereaved ones. ∼ NOTE John Dumas has two markers in Hillsdale Cemetery. The first one is Memorial #15840959 and the second one, a newer marker is this memorial, #34736086. There is also a discrepancy in the middle name of John. His marker here has his middle initial as L and the older marker has the middle initial that appeared to be and L also, but someone has turned it into a J, supposedly for Jackson. I believe this was necessary so that his wife Elnora could be on the face of the marker with him as the first marker did not allow for her name to be added. As to which marker, John is buried, I do not know. (If someone has a more defined reason why these two markers are for the same person and the difference in the middle initials/names, please contact me?)
