Bio

Mamie Angela (Vosta) Weilage, 86 of Crete, died Sunday, November 19, 2000. She was born July 26, 1914 on the family farm in Lancaster County to Joe and Rose (Chrastil) Vosta. She attend school through the eighth grade at District 11 School. On December 30, 1931 she married Raymond George Weilage in Rockport, Missouri. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on April 10, 1949 by Pastor Donald Heck. Mamie lived in the Crete area all of her life, having moved from the farm to Crete in 1972. She was involved in the Ladies Aid and J.O.Y. Group at St. John Lutheran Church and in the Kramer Extension Club and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking homemade bread and, according to her family, the best kolaches around. She and Ray enjoyed having the whole family at their home each Sunday for dinner. She also took great joy in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mamie worked for a time at the Hillside Mini Mart and at Steiner's Jewelry. She was able to live in her own home until August when she went to Garden Square to live and then to Crete Municipal Hospital after she broke her hip. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Orval Heusinkvelt of Martell; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Barbara Weilage of Atlanta; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Lorraine Vosta of Lincoln; grandchildren and spouses, Daniel and Mona Heusinkvelt, Ken and Mary Heusinkvelt, Loyd Heusinkvelt and special friend Kathy VanBeek, Roger and Karen Heusinkvelt, Eric and Laksamee Weilage, Kent and Shelly Weilage, Amy and Bob Richards; step-granddaughter, Hope Lebow; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Linda Weilage; parents; brothers, Eddie and Charles Vosta; and sister, Helen Svancara. Services were November 22 at St. John Lutheran Church at Kramer with Pastor John Heckmann officiating. Organist was Gloria Pospisil. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park. Kuncl Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Daniel Heusinkvelt, Loyd Heusinkvelt, Eric Weilage, Ken Heusinkvelt, Roger Heusinkvelt, and Kent Weilage.
