Mrs. Qualms Dies at Age of Ninety Years Death Takes Aged Woman At Residence of Relatives Mrs. Mary Qualls, 99, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Sims f Howard Wednesday at 7 p.m. She died of pneumonia, having been ill for a week. Mrs. Qualms was born in Nashville, Tenn, Dec. 25, 1849, and came to Texas at the age of 17 and has lived in Hill and Ellis counties since that time. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She had lived in the Boyce community about nine years before going to Howard. Her mother lived to be 114 years of age. Her husband Isam Qualls to whom she was married (June 12, 1876 in Lavaca, Texas per contributor ErgoSum) at the age f 20, preceded her in death by several years. Funeral services were held at the Saxon-Champion-Boze Funeral Chapel this afternoon at 1:30 and then the body was taken to overland to De Graffenreid Cemetery near Whitney, Tx., Hill Co., where a brief service was held at the grave. She is survived by tow daughters, Mrs. Margaret Simms, Howard and Mrs. Mollie Ivy, Morgan, Texas; three sons, Thomas Qualls, Dallas, William Qualls, Austin and Johnnie Qualls, Clifton; one sister Fannie Etheridge, Waco; twenty-seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
