Verna McCarville Verna Viola (Voshall) Scroggin McCarville, 77, of Grand Island passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Life Community Church, with Pastor Stan Davis officiating. To honor Verna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be held privately at a later date. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Verna was born Dec. 6, 1938, at Winona, Kan., to Charles and Alta (DeLong) Voshall. She married William Edward Scroggin on Nov. 13, 1973. They had two children, Debbie and Greg. After William’s death, Verna married Jerome McCarville and they had four children, Kirk, Garth, Eric and Mona. Verna always worked in some capacity with the family business at Gold Cure Apartments and the salvage business, including cooking and washing for the employees. She enjoyed nature, camping, fishing, and her beloved cats and dogs prior to moving to her final home at Park Place Golden Living Center. She made many friends at her new home and continued her love of Bingo, word searches, puzzles and book reading. She also enjoyed researching history, which led to her compiling a book on Nebraska counties. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Gary) Krugman of Grand Island, Kirk (Kayleene) McCarville, Garth McCarville, Eric McCarville and Mona Medbery; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Scroggin; her parents; and her son, Gregory Scroggin.
