LeRoy Wayne Drobny was born December 11, 1929 in Chico to Agnes & Wencil Drobny. He attended elementary and high school in Hamilton City, and was Student Body President in 1948. He attended a two year Ag Program at U.C. Davis. LeRoy was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and spent two years in Korea. Upon his return home he joined the Hamilton City Fire Department and served as Secretary and Chief, he also served for forty one years as Chairman of the Hamilton Bayles Fire Commissioner. LeRoy and his brother Gordon took over the family farm in 1954. They raised almonds and prunes until he retired from farming and moved to Chico in 1991. LeRoy also worked for over 20 years on the chain gang at Hamilton Union High football games. He spent over six years with the Glenn County Search and Rescue. LeRoy served as Treasurer for Hamilton High School Friends of Athletics. In 1985, he joined the Chico SIRS #63 and served as Quarter Master and House Manager. LeRoy traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, and enjoyed fishing in Mexico. LeRoy enjoyed airplanes, and took many trips to the Reno Air Races and numerous Air Shows. He enjoyed hunting and took many trips to Canada to fish. A Celebration of LeRoy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made to either the USO or your favorite charity.
