Bio

Elsie Leaming Lee, 99, died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2016, in a skilled nursing facility in Medford, Ore. Elsie was born in Gregory, S.D., the daughter of Peter and Frances Vasicek. She grew up on a farm in nearby Herrick, S.D. In 1942, she married Arthur Colmer Leaming. Elsie and Art were longtime residents of Klamath Falls, Ore., where they raised three daughters. After Art died in 1982, Elsie married Bob Lee of Winlock, Wash. After Bob died in 1993, she moved into Woodland Estates in Chehalis, Wash., living there until 2005. She spent the last 10-plus years of her life at Fountain Plaza in Medford. Elsie was an excellent seamstress and cook. She enjoyed bowling and bowled on a team into her late 80s. After moving to Medford, she became an accomplished Wii bowler. She was also a devoted Seattle Mariners baseball fan. Survivors include her daughters of Bend, Ore., St. George, Utah, and of Medford; grandson and his wife Ashland, Ore.; granddaughter and her husband of Central Point, Ore.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by granddaughters Cindy Laws and Christine Laws Young and grandson Kyle Guyer. She also outlived seven brothers and sisters. Herald and News, Feb 9, 2016
