Joe Bartu, Jr. Dies Unexpectedly Joe Bartu, Jr., formerly of the Arcadia and Comstock communities and a resident of Ord since 1964 died very unexpectedly Jan. 9, 1974 at his home in Ord. He was 73. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Ord. Interment was in Ord City Cemetery. The son of Joe and Frances Nedbalek Bartu, Sr., Joe Bartu, Jr. was born October 22, 1900 in a sod house near Arcadia. His early life was spent at Arcadia. He was united in marriage to Agnes Klima June 10, 1924 at Ord. After marriage they lived on a farm in Custer county and in 1941 they returned to Valley county to a farm west of Ord. In 1945 they moved to a farm near Comstock until retirement in 1964 when they moved to Ord. He is survived by his wife Agnes of Ord; two sons Dwain of Ord and Donald of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren; four brothers, August of Ord, Adolph of Comstock, Jerry of Los Angeles, CA, and Henry of Grand Island and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Drobny, Martin, SD.
