Jessie Mae Wingo TEXAS CITY — Jessie Mae Wingo, 81, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Thursday, August 7,1997, at Columbia Mainland Medical Center following a long battle with lung disease. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pjn., Saturday, August 9, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Splawn officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas, "visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Ms. Wingo was born April 5, 1916, in Waco, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Texas City until 1981, when she moved to Mabank, lexas. She lived there for 15 years before coming back to Texas City. Mrs. Wingo was well known for her wonderful country cooking and her love of a house full qf Mnfolk. Nothing meant more to her than her family and she proved it day after day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wingo, and sons Jesse and Frank Wingo. She will be sadly missed by her son and his wife, Bill and Edwena Wingo of Texas City; a brother G.C. Bridges of Kemp, Texas; sisters Nell Maxwell of Galveston, Johnnie Mixon and Billie Jean Bohme, both of Mabank; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other loved ones. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
