Luverne A. Jensen, age 80 of York, NE, died Monday, January 18, 2016 in York. She was born June 22, 1935 to Jewell and Katherine (Kleinholz) Matlock in McCool Junction, NE. On May 17, 1952, Luverne was united in marriage to Joey W. Jensen in York. Luverne had worked at Jensen Propane. She was a member of the First Evangelical Church, where she taught Bible and Sunday school. She also was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed sewing and working on her artwork, cooking, fishing, and tending to her flowers. She is survived by her husband Joey of 63 years; daughter Cathryn (Tom) West; sons Wayne (Sheila) Jensen and Doug Jensen; grandchildren: Griffin (Laura) West, Madison (Matt) Mayer, Skyler (David) Rodriguez, and Parker Jensen; great-grandson, Redmond West; brothers Gary (Billie) Matlock, Francis Matlock, Harland Matlock; sister Jerlene Nielsen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Maynard and Delbert, and brother-in-law Morris Nielsen. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2016 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, York with Bud Christenson officiating.
