husband of Sandra Lee Anderson, father to Dale, Gary, Aliece and Jan. Obituary- January 21, 2016 Provo Herald 1935–2016 Grant Dee Newman passed away January 19th, 2016. He was born January 22nd, 1935 in Pleasant Grove to Claude B Newman and Effie Olsen Newman. Preceded in death by brothers Paul (Clarise) Sykes, Delbert (Louise) Sykes, Clyde (Dorothy) Newman, Clarice (Chuck) West, Glen (Marian) Newman and daughter-in-law Shannon Newman. Advertisement: Story Continues Below Dee was raised in Pleasant Grove (Monkey Town), and served in the US Army based in Germany. He was employed at Geneva Steel for 32 years, then at the Utah State Developmental Center for 25 years. He loved working with the handicapped population and they loved him. Dee coached little league baseball for 15 years where he had a great influence on his players. He is survived by Sandra, his loving wife of 58 years, and his four children: Dale (Shannon) Newman, Gary (Waleska) Newman, Aliece (Brian) Midgley, and Janalee Newman. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, along with three of his best friends: his dogs Misha, Prince, and Jackson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 21st Ward Chapel. 270 North 900 East, American Fork with a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Family and friends may also attend a viewing Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.
