Bio

LaRae Whimpey Eddington 1926 - 2016 LaRae Whimpey Eddington, 89, graduated from life with honors on Monday, January 11, 2016, in her Lehi home surrounded by her children who took loving care of her prior to and at the time of her mortal graduation. LaRae was born November 28, 1926, at her family home in Lehi, Utah, to John N. Whimpey and Irene Peterson Whimpey. She was the youngest of nine children and the last surviving member of the John N. and Irene Whimpey family. She married Richard Hale Eddington, her childhood sweetheart, on December 20, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple after waiting for him to return from his military service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. LaRae was best known by all who knew her as a loving, charitable daughter of God, and as Grandma Eddington. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in each capacity she was asked to serve in. She served as MIA president, Relief Society president, and counselor, also teaching in various positions in the ward. Singing in the ward choir held special memories for LaRae. LaRae is survived by one daughter, Lora Eddington, Lehi, Utah; three sons: Steven K (Cheryl), Midway, Utah; Eric R. Eddington, Provo, Utah; and Kent E. Eddington of Lehi, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Eddington; son, Richard Paul Eddington; daughter, Irene Christensen; and three grandchildren, the infant sons of Irene and Wes Woffinden. Grandma has 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016, for family and friends at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A funeral celebration will be held for family and close friends only, starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held following the funeral at the Lehi City Cemetery.
