Bio

Funeral services were held Thurs­day afternoon at the First Baptist church for Walton J. Holder, age 47, operator of a filling station at 821 North Main street. Deceased was born in Tennessee but with his parents moved to Farmersville, Collin county, Texas, when but a child. He came to Electra fourteen years ago and was engaged in rig-building until five years ago. He was in partnership with his brother-inlaw, Bob Cooper, and Jake Meroney of this city, as contractors during the Burkburnett boom in 1918-19. His mother, Mrs. W. D. Holder, Princeton; his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Gant Holder; one son, W. D., age 15; one daughter, Miss. Maurine, 19; one brother, Doc Holder, Princeton; six sisters, Mrs. Walter Bradshaw, Childiress; Mesdames Ben and Tom Godwin, Princeton; Mrs. Tom Sturdivant, Gladewater: Mrs. Jim Woods, Gorman; Miss Lula Holder, Dallas, survive. Three infant sons of deceased and his wife preceded him in death and are buried in the family lot, where interment was made after the rites at the church, which were conducted by Rev. W. W. Rivers, pastor. Totten Brothers were in charge of the funeral arrangements. Mr. Holder has been in poor health for several months, but his death from an attack of heart trouble, at nine o'clock Tuesday night, was quite unexpected. The remains were taken to the funeral home and prepared for burial, then returned to the family home where they lay in state until the hour set for the services at the church. W. D., fifteen-year-old son of deceased is a student in the Texas Mate Institute for the Deaf and Dumb. He was notified of the death of his father and arrived home Wednesday afternoon.
