CLARKS — Irene Mae Schultz, 99, of Columbus, formerly of Clarks, died on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at Columbus Community Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery by Pierce Chapel near Clarks. Irene was born on Jan. 19, 1916, to George and Martha (Wright) Bush in Polk. She grew up in the Polk area and attended District 70 School and High Prairie High School, graduating in 1934. She was a member of the last graduating class at High Prairie High School. She married LeRoy Edward Schultz in York on Aug. 7, 1937. Irene was a farmer’s wife. She was also a nurse’s aide for 15 years in the Fullerton and Central City hospitals. She read to shut-ins and delivered Meals on Wheels. She received the Good Neighbor Award in 1997. She was a member of the United Congregational Church in Clarks. Irene is survived by one son, Jerry (LaVonne) Schultz of Columbus; two grandchildren, LeRoy and Maria Schultz of Tampa, Fla., and William and Karlene Schultz of Bellevue; two stepgrandchildren, Theresa and Steve Clark of Lincoln; Angela and Shannon Ramaekers of Bellwood; six great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; and three sisters, Margaret Hewitt, Doris Wieseman and Velma Randall, daughter-in-law Geraldine A. Schultz (1997) and brother Melvin (Buddy) Bush (1928)
