Thanks to contributor #48796369 Victor V. Dembowski, 87, of St. Libory, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Litzenburg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Libory's Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Dembowski was born Dec. 11, 1915, at Austin to John and Lillian (Michalski) Dembowski. Survivors of his immediate family include his wife, Leora A. Dembowski; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jean Dembowski of Parker, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jim Snyder of Leesville, Ohio; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Dembowski of Grand Island. Also left to cherish his memory are 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Esther Chrans of Scottsbluff, who was raised by his parents. Mr. Dembowski attended the Northstar Elementary School through the eighth grade near Fullerton, and grew up on the family farm. He married Leora A. Lee on Jan. 16, 1945, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The couple farmed and he worked in construction for several years in Central Nebraska. In 1969, the couple moved to St. Libory from the Grand Island area. Mr. Dembowski retired from his maintenance position at Hastings Pork in 1982. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, playing cards and the accordion. He was a member of St. Libory's Catholic Church in St. Libory. He preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Dembowski who died Jan. 29, 2003; four brothers, Joe, Frank, Tony and Virgil Dembowski; and three sisters, his twin Nellie Lee, Clara Dembowski and Eleanor Lee.
