Lloyd A. Rohde, 87, of Kimball, died at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Father Sagar officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery. Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 until 6 p.m. Friends may also visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Lloyd’s Tribute Wall and leave notes of sympathy for the family. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home. The services for Lloyd have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home. Lloyd August Rohde was born in Cumro, Nebraska, on March 17, 1928, the son of August and Gladys (Hammond) Rohde. He was raised and attended school in Custer County, Nebraska, and graduated in 1946. He worked as a cow puncher for many ranchers in the Sandhills of Nebraska. He met Katheryn Howell during the mid-1940s. Lloyd then worked for Swifts Packing House in Scottsbluff. On May 2, 1955, he was married to Katheryn Howell, they were the first couple married at All Saints Catholic Church in Hyannis, Nebraska. They lived in Scottsbluff and then Colorado for a short time. They moved to Pine Bluffs and Lloyd worked for Many Wells Ranch for 27 years. Kathryn preceded him in death in 1977. Lloyd moved his family to Kimball in 1978 and he worked for Vowers and Sons Farming and Ranching from 1978-1986. He then drove a school bus for the Kimball Public Schools until retiring in 2001. Lloyd loved music and working with horses, he enjoyed going to auctions and was a collector of many things. Spending time with his family was very important to him. Survivors include his children Monica (Gary) Fulton of Marshaltown, Iowa; daughter-in-law Susette Rohde of Arley, Alabama; Kitt (Cindy) Rohde of Meeker, Colorado, Kevin (Connie) Rohde of Gainsville, Texas; Mitch (Sharon) Rohde of Sidney, Sid “Bro. Augustine” Rohde of Denver, Lawrence (Wendy) Rohde of Pine Bluffs, Meg Strauch of Kimball, Beth Goff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Mariane (Mike) Culek of Kimball; brother Fred (Louise) Rohde of Ansley, Nebraska; sisters Augusta Vincent of Lincoln, Clydia Young of Lincoln, and Dorothy Poland of Valentine; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Matthew Rohde and sister Virginia Gordon. Posted in Scottsbluff Star Herald obituaries on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
