Evan Sylvester Murphree was born 28 Mar 1898 in Blount County, Alabama, and died 24 Nov 1935 in Blount County, Alabama. He was buried in Antioch Methodist Cemetery, Oneonta, Blount County, Alabama. He was the son of George Thomas A. Murphree and Nancy E. Hullett. He married Mary Ingram. She was born ABT 1900 in Blount County, Alabama. EVAN S. MURPHREE DIES ON STRAIGHT MOUNTAIN Evan S. Murphree, aged 36, died at his home on route 4, Oneonta, on Monday. The cause of his death was reported as heart trouble. Mt. Murphree was a member of the Methodist Church and was a good man. The deceased is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Nancy Murphree; two sons, Thurmond Murphree and Billy Roy Murphree; one daughter, Pauline Murphree; four brothers, W.V. Murphree, Luther Murphree, G.E. Murphree and R.H Murphree; four sisters, Mrs. Edgar Brown, Mrs. Della Stafford, Mrs. Ida Tipton and Mrs. Alma Watkins. Funeral services were held at Antioch Tuesday and were conducted by Revs. A.H. Walden and P.J. Jordan, with Wade directing. [The Southern Democrat, November 27, 1935]
