Marilyn Kaye Sawyer, 53, of Mason City, died Friday, June 6, 2003. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason City Public School in Mason City. The Revs. Todd Philipsen and Tim Squier will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sawyer was born June 9, 1949, at Loup City to Emil Sr. and Agnes (Kusek) Tyma. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Glenn; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Craig Schuler of Cairo; two sons, Scott Sawyer of Callaway and Kurt Sawyer of Mason City; a sister, Carole Oseka of Cairo; and two brothers, Emil Tyma Jr. of Cairo and Richard Tyma of Litchfield. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Brenna Leigh Schuler of Cairo. Mrs. Sawyer grew up on the family farm and received her education at Loup City and Boelus. She graduated from Boelus High School in 1967. After her education she took a job in Grand Island with ASCS. She worked at various ASCS offices in Grand Island, Broken Bow and Loup City over the last 23 years. She married Glenn Sawyer on Jan. 27, 1973. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Mason City, the Sunshine Club and the Community Service Club. She loved Mason City and was very involved in the community. She loved kids, crocheting, planning family reunions, flowers and holidays. She was a great people person who really loved life. Music at the funeral will be provided by Mike Turek. Pallbearers will include her nephews, Mike Oseka, Myron Oseka, Steve Oseka, Terry Shoemaker, Jeremy Squier and Randy Squier. Honorary pallbearers will include Brad Sawyer, Duane Sawyer and Rod Tyma.
