Daughter of Henry Hiram Coffman and Rozena Jane Runyan of Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska. "Mabel Grace Coffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Coffman, of Mason City, Nebr., passed away at the St. Francis hospital in this city at 9 p.m. Saturday, death resulting from a cerebral abscess. Miss Coffman was aged 17 years and was a student in the Mason City high school. Besides her parents, two brothers and four sisters survive. The body was taken to Mason City on Sunday, accompanied by the parents, where burial will take place." (The Grand Island Daily Independent; 05 May 1924) ----------------------------- "Mable Grace Coffman was born in Mason City on August 25, 1906 and died at Grand Island at the St. Francis Hospital, Saturday, May 3, 1924 at the age of 17 years, 8 months and and 8 days. She was second in a family of five girls and two boys. She became a Christian at Easter time 1923 and united with the Mason City Baptist Church. A girl of exemplary character, she will be missed in church and Sunday School circles. Grace was a junior in the high school when her studies were interrupted by the influenza that eventually caused her death. At her funeral, which was held at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, the members of the high school attended in a body and pupils acted as pallbearers. Among the relatives from out of town who attended her funeral were her sister, Mrs. John Slagle, Jr. and husband from Walworth. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Coffman, her grandparents, Mrs. Beatrice Coffman and Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Runyan, two brothers and four sisters, other relatives and a host of friends lament her early death. The family has the sympathy of the entire community." (The Mason City Transcript; 08 May 1924)
