Emilie Frances Sralla of Granger, was born March 7, 1944, in Cameron. Emilie was a graduate of Georgetown High School. While obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Art at Southwestern University, she worked in the admissions office. Sundown, Marble Falls and Granger were Texas districts she taught in during her career. She especially enjoyed teaching Reading. She received a 20-year appreciation award from the Granger ISD. Emilie was a member of the Texas State Teachers’ Association, Delta Cappa Gamma, Williamson County Retired Teachers’ Association and Texas Czech Genealogical Society. She enjoyed trips to the coast, including the Galvez Hotel in Galveston, Luther Hotel in Palacios, Corpus Christi and South Padre Island. Emilie also enjoyed the Majestic Theater and the LBJ Ranch. She had fond memories of attending the 1968 Hemis Fair. Emilie was a strong, independent woman who courageously fought advanced breast cancer followed by pulmonary fibrosis. Her first advanced cancer diagnosis was over 10 years ago. She passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, in San Antonio. She was predeceased by her mother Emilie Aloise “Millie” Machu Sralla, her father Clifton Frank Sralla, Sr. and her brother Clifton Frank Sralla, Jr. Survivors include sister Shirley Sralla Ischy, niece Jan Ischy Prins and husband Col. Richard Prins (USAF Ret.), three step-great-nieces and one great-great-step-nephew. The family suggests donations in Emilie’s memory to the Granger Czech Moravian Brethren Church Steeple Fund, Central Texas Feline Rescue or San Antonio Meals on Wheels. Funeral services will be in Sunday Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will follow at the Weir Cemetery with a meal at the Czech Moravian Brethren Church Fellowship Hall in Granger.
