Bio

Myrta Jane McGowan Davis was the daughter of Andrew J McGowan and Schrelda Jane Woolum. Myrta married John Rockwell Davis on 9 December 1902 in Jackson County, Ohio. John's parents were William Davis and Mary Catherine Huey. His mother was the second wife of Myrta's paternal grandfather Jacob Woolum. Jacob applied for their marriage license. In 1910 Myrta and John were living in Oak Hill, Jackson, Ohio. John was a railroad employee. Myrta said that she was the mother of three children and all three were living. Bernard L, Mildred B and (Bernice) Gladys. Myrta and John had three additional children between 1910 and 1919: Irene Audra, Burman or Bernand and Wanda. The informant on Myrta's death record was her husband John. In 1920 John's mother, now widowed for the second time was residing in the home with John and the four children. John then married Permelia Florence "Millie" Ridge Miller, his neighbor sometime in 1920.
