Julia LaVerne Burnett November 26, 1924 - December 7, 2015 Julia LaVerne Burnett, 91, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. Graveside service will be held 2 pm Friday at Chillicothe Cemetery, Chillicothe, Texas with Rev. Wallace Clay, officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Smith Chapel in Chillicothe. LaVerne was born Novmeber [sic] 26, 1924 in Knox City, Texas to Julia (Privett) and Samuel Jackson Reeves. She married John A. Burnett in Haskell, Texas on August 12, 1942. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chillicothe and worked for 34 years at the First National Bank in Chillicothe. She was a member of the Eastern Star. LaVerne enjoyed sewing, spending time at the cabin at Lake Kemp but nothing brought more joy to her life than to be with her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; mother and father-in-law, Winnie and John W. Burnett; and granddaughter, Kristi Bivins Willis. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Barnes of Stinnett, Sharon Bivins and husband Johnny of Dalhart; three grandchildren, Jennifer Barnes, Trent Barnes and wife Cassie, Kim Burton and husband Jim Bob; eight great grandchildren, Blaine, Bryce, Brett, Zane, Rhett, Cainon, Tatum and Brody; sister, Billie Jean McAuley of Knox City; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Burnett of Vernon. Burnett in Haskell on Aug. 12, 1942. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Barnes of Stinnett and Sharon Bivins of Dalhart; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Billie Jean McAuley of Knox City.
