FROM THE TRI-CITY REPORTER: Ed Dunning,retired peace officer of Dyer and Milan,Tenn., who for the past 16 months, had lived with his daughter, Mrs W G True, at 836 N Willett,Memphis, Tenn. fell last Tuesday at the residence and broke his hip. Mr. Dunning had been in failing health s number of years and suffered a heart attack more than a year ago and had been unable to get around much since then. He died at 12:45 a m today at St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis. He was 72. Born near Milan, Tenn., Mr. Dunning spent most of his life at Milan and Dyer and had served as a peace officer in both communities. He was formerly active in politics and in the work of Milan Baptist Church, where he had retained his membership. One of his great regrets since moving to Memphis was that his health no longer permitted him to attend church. His wife died about two years ago. He leaves two daughters, Mrs True and Mrs J C Halford, Louisville, KY.; his son, Raymond Dunning, Milan; five grandchildren, John Howell, Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Huely Snider, Jackson, Tenn., and Mrs Herman Wyatt amd James and Jackie Halford, Louisville, and five great-grandchildren. Services tomorrow morning at Dyer First Baptist Church. Burial in Dyer; Bodkin Funeral Home of Milan in charge.
