Milo served in the US Army 1944-1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European Campaign Medal and Combat Infantry Badge for serving under General Patton's 3rd Army in the Battle of the Bulge. Milo married Rose Marie Pop on February 15, 1949 in Wahoo, Nebraska. They are the parents of Robert "Bob", Richard "Rich", Rochelle, Michael "Mike", Nancy & Timothy "Tim". Milo J. Bartek, 91 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 4, 2015 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. He was born April 12, 1924 in Weston, NE to Frank E. and Anna (Fiedler) Bartek. He graduated from Weston High School in 1941. Milo was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European Campaign Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge for serving under General Patton's 3rd Army in the Battle of the Bulge. On February 15, 1949, Milo was united in marriage to Rose Marie Pop at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, in a double wedding with his late brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Delores Bartek. Milo and Rose Marie resided on a farm South of Ithaca until moving to Wahoo in 2004. Milo was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1833, a charter member of American Legion #308 in Weston, and VFW #4502. He was also a charter member of the Livestock Association. He was a Saunders County Supervisor from 1978-1990. There he served on the Region V Human Services, Governing and Advisory Board of Mental Health and Retardation. He was a past member of the National Farmer's Organization and the Nebraska Farmer's Union. He is survived by wife of 66 years: Rose Marie Bartek; children: Robert (Mary) Bartek of Ithaca, Richard (Kelly) Bartek of Ithaca, Rochelle Oglesby of Lincoln, Michael (Leanne) Bartek of Wahoo, Nancy (Jeff) Whittemore of Lincoln, Tim (Barb) Bartek of Ithaca; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Frank E. and Anna Bartek; brothers: Charles, Edward, and Leonard Bartek; sisters: Rose Benes and Lorraine Kremlacek. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend.
