Shawn L. Dockhorn, 39, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at home, due to health complications. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Inurnment will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of the arrangements. Shawn was born Aug. 5, 1976, in Grand Island to Darr A. Dockhorn Sr. and Arlene (Schinkel) Dockhorn. He grew up in Grand Island, where he received his education. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Sandoval on July 5, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple lived in Grand Island. He was employed by Triad, Inc., in Alda until he became disabled. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. His hobbies included working with electronics, especially being involved in stereo competitions and installing remote car starters. Shawn was a computer wiz. He loved watching NASCAR and sports, especially basketball and football. He loved spending time with his nephew and best friend, Tay! Survivors include his wife, Becca of Grand Island; mother, Arlene of Grand Island; siblings and their spouses, Darlene Dockhorn of Grand Island, Shari and Steve Nunn of Aurora, Darr Dockhorn II, Tammy and Troy Nelson, Kurt and Jackie Dockhorn, Darwin and Lori Dockhorn, Tiffani and Robert Williams, all of Grand Island; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Darr; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his nephew, Zachary Andrews.
