Bio

MRS. MARY SHOEMAKER Lancaster, WI., Sept. 26 – Special: Burial services for Mrs. Mary Shoemaker, 96, one of Lancaster’s oldest citizens, were held from the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. J. J. Johnson officiating. Interment was at Hillside cemetery. For several years Mrs. Shoemaker has made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Velma Koltzdie, at Ridgeway, Wis. A few months ago she returned to Lancaster to make her home with Mrs. William Frost at whose home she died. Mrs. Shoemaker’s husband, a member of the Twenty-fifth Wisconsin was killed during the Civil way. His name appears on the memorial monument, first to be erected in the United States in honor of Civil war veterans who lost their lives, in the Lancaster Court Yard square.
