Mrs. Buckalew was born on August 30, 1918 in Vilonia, Arkansas to Coy H. Parker and Josephine (Westmoreland) Parker. She passed away peacefully in Conroe at the age of 97. Ophelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, O.M. “Buck” Buckalew; her grandchildren, Cathy L. Page and James “Bubba” Grogan; and her step daughter, Betty Jeffers. She is survived by her loving family: Daughter, Barbara Lasher; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Gary Gardner; step-daughter, Clarene Martinez; grandson, Jerry Walker; great grandchildren, Michael Healy, Melissa Healy, Taylor Grogan, Gage Grogan and Riley Walker; nieces, Ella Jo Edelson and Claudia Stepp; nephews, David Parker and Howard W. Buckalew. Numerous great-great grandchildren and other dear relatives and also survive. She and her husband Buck moved to Conroe in 1938, where over the years they successfully ran three businesses and raised their happy family. Ophelia was always a hard worker and thrived on staying busy. Her giving and considerate nature was apparent all through her life, as she was always doing and thinking of others before herself. Her true love were her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Meemaw. Our sweet mother, Meemaw and friend is dearly loved and will be greatly missed in our lives.
