Gene Lawson Breeden, age 72 of Breckenridge, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s, Monday, November 23, 2015. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, November 29th in the Breckenridge Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Martin officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Gene Lawson Breeden was born November 15, 1943 to parents, Olen Breeden and Margie Craver Breeden in Ranger, Texas. He was raised by his grandparents and grew up in Woodson, Throckmorton and Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School and continued his education at Texas A&M. Mr. Breeden served in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1982. He worked for Federal Aviation Administration as an electronic technician until retiring in 2008. Gene married Paula Pellizzari on February 15, 1963. Paula passed on January 18, 2007. Mr. Breeden remarried on December 30, 1979 to Joyce Holberg in San Diego, California. The Breeden’s lived in San Diego and later moved back to Texas where they lived in Fort Worth and eventually moved back home to Breckenridge in 2001. Mr. Breeden was preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Bigham; his parents, Olen & Margie Breeden; one sister, Nita Kay Breeden Chamberlain; his grandparents, E.T. and Willie Mae Lawson. Mr. Breeden is survived by his wife, Joyce Breeden of Breckenridge; one son, John Wesley Breeden & wife Laura of Hernon, Virginia; one daughter, Joanna Kay Breeden Coleman of Prosper; one step son, Henry Claude Walker & wife Dianne of El Cajon, California; one brother, Olen Breeden, Jr. of De Valls Bluff, Arkansas; one grandson, Cameron Cash Coleman; one step grandson, Henry Quentin Walker and one step granddaughter, Brenna Nicole Walker. Pallbearers for Mr. Breeden’s service include Cameron Coleman, Quentin Walker, Henry Walker, Phillip Devenport, Charles Credicott, and Denny Sradley. Honorary pallbearers also include David Sullivan and Chan King. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Brain Research Center or Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation and may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
