Bio
Lois Jean Simon, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at her home in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 30 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in the Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church or Northstar Services of Columbus. Lois was born September 8, 1937, on the family farm southeast of Stanton, Nebraska, to Alexander and Mamie (Zechin) Simon. She was baptized in the Congregational Church in Stanton. Lois lived at home with her parents and two brothers until 1950 when she moved into the Norfolk Regional Center in Norfolk. Later Lois moved to the Beatrice State Home and in the 1970's moved into the Northstar Women's Residence in Columbus. As a child, Lois was fond of animals, especially her dog "Poodle Pup Pete". This love for animals continued throughout her life. Lois was a confirmed member of Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus. Lois is survived by: Sister-in-law - Ellen Simon of Henderson, NE Sister-in-law - Norma Simon of Stanton, NE Seven nieces and nephews Many great nieces and nephews, and cousins Her "Northstar Family" Lois was preceded in death by: Parents - Alexander and Mamie Simon Brothers - Dale and Robert Simon Two Nephews
