Shirley A Ebke (September 17, 1935 - November 11, 2015) Shirley Ann (Krause) Ebke was born September 17, 1935 at Beatrice, Nebraska, to William and Isabelle (Malchow) Krause. She was baptized September 29, 1935 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Bearice, NE by Pastor Joseph Timken. Shirley was confirmed April 10, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church of Harbine by Pastor Theo Schmidt. Shirley married Donald H. Ebke on April 25, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Jansen by Pastor Walter Heddrick and was a member of Trinity where she and her husband Don taught Sunday School and she was a member of the Trinity LWML Ladies Aid at the time of her death on Tuesday, November 11, 2015 having attained the age of 80 years 1 month and 24 days. She lived on their family farm until moving to Fairbury Gardens in 2010 and Cedarwood this June. She worked for Lally, Kellwood and Swingsters from 1965 until 2000. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents William and Isabelle Krause, her husband Don, and her sister-in-law Phyllis. She is survived by her daughters Deborah and her husband Gerald Carlson of Jansen, NE; Pamela and her husband David Vavra of York, NE; and Sharon and her husband Bob Elgert of Fairbury, NE; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sister Barb and her husband Loren Ebke of Fairbury, NE; her brother Duane and his wife Betty Krause of Tecumseh, NE; and brother-in-law Orville Ebke of Fairbury, NE. Services will be at 10:30 am Friday November 13, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen, NE, with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. The family will greet friends Thursday Nov. 12th from 5 to 7 pm at the Funeral Home. Viewing at the Funeral Home only. Burial at the Fairbury Cemetery – Fairbury, NE. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
