~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Date Of Burial: 01/12/1956 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lloyd E. "Barney" Barnett , of 1111 S. Sixteenth St., died at 6:50 a.m. yesterday at his residence. He was 79 years old. Mr. Barnett was formerly active in Democratic political circles and served eight years as Sangamon county deputy sheriff and baliff for the Circuit Court. His last employment was as a guard at the secretary of state's office. He was formerly Democratic committeeman for precinct 78 and one time served as weightmaster for the city. He was a charter member of Capitol Christian church. Mr. Barnett was born in Monticello June 2, 1876, and had resided in Springfield for 20 years. He was married to Lucy Fort in 1931. **See below** Besides his wife, he leaves one son, William H., of Springfield, and one sister, Mrs. Mildred Britton, Decatur. Remains were taken to the Vancil funeral home where services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow and at 1:30 p.m. at Capitol Christian church, Rev. Donald J. Finley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
