Ambrose "Andy" J. Speicher, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, November 20, 2015, at Morys Haven in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Aaron Duell officiating. Military honors will be given by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be on Wednesday at 9:00 AM in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to those of the family or donor's choice. Ambrose "Andy" J. Speicher was born July 5, 1930, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Emil and Anna (Rasschaert) Speicher. He attended St. Bonaventure grade school and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. On January 6, 1951, Andy entered the United Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Ingersoll during the Korean War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. Andy was honorably discharged on November 4, 1954. On November 15, 1951, Andy was united in marriage to Phyllis Trofholz at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Andy worked at Safeway for 27 years and Pyramid Canvas for 11 years. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the American Legion. Andy enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working jigsaw puzzles. Andy is survived by: Daughter – Peggy (Robert) Bridgmon of Colorado Springs, CO Daughter – Sharon (Fred) Hollman of Columbus, NE Son – Ambrose "Duke" Speicher, Jr. of Platte, SD 7 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren Brother-in-law – Terry (Deb) Trofholz of Rogers, AR Sister-in-law – Marlene Baxter of Lincoln, NE Sister-in-law – Joyce Speicher of Columbus, NE Andy was preceded in death by: Parents – Emil and Anna Speicher Wife – Phyllis Speicher Sister – Patricia Krumland Brother – Gerald Speicher
