Bio
Mildred Virginia Wegener Janda, 79 of Giddings, passed away the afternoon of Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Texas. Mildred was born on September 23, 1936 in Gonzales County, Texas to Herbert and Irene (Warnke) Wegener. She married Robert F. Janda on September 25, 1954 in Caldwell, Texas. They were blessed with three children, Stephen, Michael and Daryl. She worked at the Manzel Clinic, Burns Clinic and at Meuth Implement Company as a secretary. She was later employed by Hughes Manufacturing as a seamstress. She was a member of the Young Homemakers Association and the Sons of Hermann. She also spent her time supporting the Lee County Little League and running the concession stand. She enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends, taking trips, and reading cookbooks. Family always came first, especially when it came to playing with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Irene Wegener, her husband, Robert, and her son, Michael. She is survived by her children, Stephen Janda and his wife, Jeanette of Hills, and Daryl Janda and his wife, Rhonda of Lexington; grandchildren, Ian Janda and his wife, Alex of Brenham, Jacob Janda and his wife, Sarah of Giddings, Kaitlyn Janda of Bryan, Joseph Janda of Giddings, Cameron Janda of Huntsville, Casey Janda of Huntsville, Reagan Janda of Lexington, and Kayla Stevenson and her husband, Benny of Dime Box; great granddaughter, Paisley Stevenson of Dime Box; sister, Norma Goetz and her husband, Bill of Shiner; sister-in-law, Carol Heinrich and her husband, Marvin on Victoria; nieces and nephews, David and Tara Goetz of New Braunfels, Mark and Kelly Goetz of Georgetown, Penny and Stephen Hilscher of Sealy, and Jill and Jeremy Waters of Sealy. Funeral Services are scheduled at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings, Texas with Father James Olnhausen officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas. The family will be present. Serving as pall bearers are Ian Janda, Jacob Janda, Reagan Janda, Joseph Janda, Cameron Janda, David Goetz, Mark Goetz, and Larry Conley.
