Mrs. Reeves Rites Today at S'water Sweetwater - Funeral for Mrs. Ivy Reeves, 74, was to be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Cate-Spencer Chapel with Mrs. L. J. Ray, Christian Science reader, officiating. Mrs. Reeves, mother of Clay Reeves of Abilene, was found dead at her home at 904 Walnut St. by neighbors about 11 a.m. Thursday. Justice of the Peace G. E. Davis said death was from natural causes. Her son had visited her on Wednesday. Reeves told Deputy Sheriff Jim Bratcher his mother did not appear well and he asked her to return home with him, but she declined. Reeves attempted to telephone his mother Thursday and she failed to answer. He then telephoned neighbors who had to force their way into the home and found the woman dead on a back bedroom floor. Mrs. Reeves was born Sept. 24, 1886 at Fort Worth. She married Edwin C. Reeves at Ennis on April 11, 1911. They moved to Sweetwater in 1925. Mr. Reeves died Dec. 29, 1953. In addition to the son in Abilene, Mrs. Reeves is survived by a brother, Louis Harris of Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. G. C. Caves of Garrett; and three grandchildren, Clay Jack, Helen Kay and Joe Reeves, all of Abilene. Burial was slated in Sweetwater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Schilling, Carl Dreidel, Ernest Johnson, T. E. Wideman, Mel Harp and Nealie Reeves.
