Mrs. O'Keefe, 86, Dies in S'water Sweetwater - Mrs. D. Simon O'Keefe, 86, pioneer ranchwoman who had lived in this area since 1881, died at Simmons Memorial Hospital at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday following a two-week illness. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cate-Spencer Chapel. Dr. James M. Robinson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Paul Rogers, minister of Fourth and Elm St. Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery. She was born in Ellis County on Aug. 9, 1881, and was the former Virginia Kimble Linn, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Z. Linn, who moved to the Pyron area when she was three years old. She was married in Sweetwater on Oct. 19, 1899 to D. Simon O'Keefe, rancher and former Nolan County Clerk. He died here April 30, 1942. The family home is on the Claytonville Road. Mrs. O'Keefe had been a longtime member of First Baptist Church here. Survivors are a son, F. D. of San Diego, Calif.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Clifton Flynn of Sweetwater; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
