LAST RITES HELD FOR M. C. LAIRD Worshipful Master of Pelion Masonic Lodge Dies in Columbia. Pelion, Jan. 1. — M. C. Laird, 58, of Pelion, died at the Baptist hospital Yesterday morning after a short illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha Kyser Laird, and the following children, Mrs. S. A. Huggins, Ernest Laird, Belton Laird, Thomas Laird, Leon Laird, Mrs. S. M. Hoaner, Anice Laird, all of Perion; the following brothers and sisters: W. M. Laird, and Mrs. Alice Rish of Swansea; J. H. Laird, Mrs. H. P. Chony and Mrs. H. S. Fulmer of Pelion and J. B. Laird of Kline. Funeral services were conducted at 11 o'clock Saturday morning from Pelion Baptist church by the Rev. C. W. Jones of Estill, assisted by the Rev. T. E. Hennerd of Columbia, the Rev. Mr. Potts, pastor of the Methodist church of Pelion and the Rev. Mr. Seastrunk, pastor of the Lutheran church of Pelion. Mr. Laird was a farmer of the Pelion community where he spent his entire life and was a member of Pelion Baptist church.
