Joseph was shot by the Sheriff of Liberty county, Alan Wheat,as Alan tried to arrest him at his whiskey still .Joe died at Hermann hospital. Joe's son Alonzo, was also shot during the melee but recovered. Teddlie) Lena (Loraine Lena, 1905-1981) Ruby (dates unknown, married Bill Pettus). Nettie Lee, 1909-1992 (married William Herbert Teddlie, 1903-1968) Don (dates unknown) Lou (dates unknown; married several times but we can't find her husbands' names) -- Hallie and Nettie Lee Gott were sisters who married two brothers (James and Herbert Teddlie, respectively). Don Gott fought in WWII and was in one of the first Marine landings on Iwo Jima. When he returned home and was working in the oil fields, his leg was caught in a spinning chain which amputated his leg at the knee. He recovered from the physical injury, but later died at a relatively young age in Alice, Texas Joe was shot by the Sheriff of Liberty county, Alan Wheat,as Alan tried to arrest him at his whiskey still .Joe died at Hermann hospital. Joe's son Alonzo, was also shot during the melee but recovered. The still was located on the property of Will Darks.There is a family connection between the Gotts and the Darks. Apparently, the two families were very close. Eight children were left orphaned. Four of them ended up at Buckner's Orphanage in Dallas,Texas.
