(Published in Amarillo Online Newspapers 6 Aug 1997) J.T. Brown DUMAS - J.T. Brown, 83, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Vince Kolb, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Brown was born in Moore County and had been a lifelong Moore County resident. He farmed and ranched in the Middlewell community for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Dumas Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a 50-year member of the Dumas Masonic Lodge. He was named Old Timer of the Year in 1992. Mr. Brown married his first wife, Ruth Watkins, in 1936. She died in 1971. He married Theresa Root in 1972 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Charmaine Robertson of Darrouzett; a son, Joe Brown of Dumas; a stepdaughter, Denise McDonald of Colleyville; a stepson, Raymond Root of Dumas; a brother, Charles E. Brown of Miami, Texas; a sister, Sue Betty Eden of Cottonwood, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be 12 miles southwest of Dumas.
