FUNERAL for Joe Simmons, 92, of Fox, Ark., formerly of Decatur, is 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Chancellor and Jones with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ------------------- Find A Grave contributor Sandi K Joe was born in Grapevine TX, and lived in a variety of places including Saginaw TX, Madisonville KY and Flagstaff AZ. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. He worked over 25 yrs with Gulf Oil Company and was a hardworking man devoted to his family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Timbo AR and enjoyed attending with his wife of 17 months, Barbara Martz Byrd Simmons. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion Wilson Simmons to whom he was married for 19 yrs and by his second wife Zoe Evelyn Walker Simmons with whom he enjoyed 49 yrs of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Millie Ann McCord Simmons and by four sisters: Beulah Simmons Long, Rosa Lee Simmons Mosley, Zelma Simmons Plumlee, and Nellie Ruth Simmons Webb. He is survived by a host of friends and relatives including his wife, three daughters and their husbands, eight stepchildren, six grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
