Hester Hudgins BACLIFF - Hester Hudgins was born January 24, 1918, in Wood County, Texas. She was the ninth child of William Charles and Sara Jane (Courtney) Stebeck. She had fourteen brothers and sisters and grew up with nine of them. When she as nineteen she married B.P. (Pete) Hudgins, who preceded her in August, 1988. She and B.P. lived in Rains County until 1944, when they and their two children (Billy Perry and Wanda Cai'ole) moved to Galveston County in various towns until 1956 when they built and moved into their own home in Bacliff, Texas. In 1959, Hester went to work for the County of Galveston, and worked various jobs until January 1988 when she retired as a Parkskeeper. She was a loving and unselfish mother, raising her two children to adulthood and watching them happily many and raise families of their own. Hester will be sadly missed. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Billy and Jean Hudgins of Bacliff, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Wanda and Jim Vickery of Alba, Texas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Joe Strebeck of Alba, Texas, Charlie Strebeck of Mincola, Texas; sister Lena Geraldon and Fannie Geraldon of Dallas and Estelle Hukill and Louella Hukill of Merced California. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Jack Rowe Funeral Home, League City, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, in the Jack Rowe Cathedral Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
