Abilene, Kansas Joseph A. (Joe) Horinek, 60, passed away Thursday, October 29th, in Abilene. He was born March 4, 1955 in Atwood, the son of Paul M. and Helen M. (Mazanec) Horinek. Growing up in Atwood Joe attended local schools, graduated from Atwood High School and attended Goodland Vocational Technical School. On November 4, 1975, he married Colleen J. Steinke in Atwood. The early years of their married life was spent in Atwood where he farmed, carpentered and was employed by Peterson Heat and Air. In 1985 they started Horinek Refrigeration. In 1992, the couple moved to Abilene where Joe was employed by Pestinger Heat and Air in Salina. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, woodworking and was an avid hunter. Joe was preceded in death by his father. The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, November 5th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Joseph Horinek memorial fund. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
