Bio
Funeral Services for James R. Ford, Jr. will be conducted on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be at the chapel on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to service time. Officiating the service will be D.W. McLendon of Eastern Hills a Church of Christ where J.R. was a faithful member. Graveside services will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery. J.R. entered into rest on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Marshall graduating from Marshall High School in 1969 where he was a member of the 2% club. Mr. Ford retired from Center Point Energy with thirty years of service. He was a coach and sponsor of youth baseball and soft ball for seventeen years and also active in scouting with his son Eric. He loved shooting pool, playing golf, and he was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. Most of all he enjoyed reading the bible and studying about God. Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara “Barbo” Ford, his son Eric Ford, and his parents, James and Thelma Ford. He is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth Ford of Anderson, S.C.; other family members and a host of friends.
